The long-awaited Rubber Replanting Programme in Malaysia

New incentives to revive the rubber industry

Good news in the district of Sarawak Risda at Selangau in Malaysia. The government has allocated a loan of RM20.7 million for replanting of rubber involving 2251.67ha of land. The Rubber to Rubber Replanting Programme includes 54,057 hectares of land throughout the country and provides for the allocation of a total sum  of RM158.3 million. Risda benefits from the development programmes of 11th Malaysia Plan in this year.

The Deputy Minister for Rural and Regional Development Deputy Minister, Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi, declares that the amount received will be used for the launch of the Rubber Collection Centre and the opening of the Nanga Sekuau Agropolitan Plantation Site. He said “The Agrolitan project was an integrated development programme targeted at eradicating poverty and increasing the income and standard of living of rural folks”.
