China and India top of nuclear power growth

Nuclear power production will grow by about 46 percent by 2040, and more than 90% will come from China and India.

China added three new reactors to its fleet in 2017, bringing its total number of operating reactors to 41, in this way the Chinese nation has a current nuclear capacity of 34,5 GW. Its project is to increase nuclear capacities to a total of 58 gigawatts (GW) by 2020.

India, with 22 nuclear reactors, has the seventh-largest nuclear production fleet in the world, according to numbers from the International Atomic Energy Agency; and the country’s largely indigenous nuclear program is starting to open up.
