Cable Car plan for Durban

A urban regeneration specialist is working for improving the city of Durban with a cable car.

The project will see a urban network of cable car from The Point and South Beach to Florida Road. The Durban’s population live in a relatively small area and every conceivable form of transportation is used – narrow lanes for walking, bicycles and scooters through to large highways which carry the main motorized transportation veins around the city.

The idea is to built a cable car or a gondola car and it isn’t a new idea, in fact the first transporting people was invented in the 1860s in California and we have seen cable cars in European ski resorts since the early 1900s. This is also an efficient, low-carbon and eco-friendly footprint transportation solution.
