TBM in Netherlands

The first tunnel tube for COMOL5’s Rijnland Route in the Netherlands has been completed by Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) Gaia.

Since launching in August 2019, the TBM has excavated a total of 2,250 m to complete the first tunnel tube of the RijnlandRoute.

In January 2020, TMB Gaia arrived under eater after six months of drilling in the receiving shaft. Over the coming weeks the cutter wheel and the front sections of the machine will be disassembled and transported back to the start shaft to commerce excavating the second tunnel in April.
